Statement for the Members of the Congregation of Jubilee temple Botwood.
March 15th, 2020
COVID-19 (coronavirus) has developed quickly, and our assembly is committed to taking preventative measures to protect the safety of the Members, Staff, Guests and Volunteers of whom we serve. Your well-being is our top priority!
As the situation evolves, we continue to monitor and promote the instructions of the Public Health Agency of Canada in order to keep our communities healthy.
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
We (JPT) have implemented additional measures to ensure your safety as well as the safety of our team, including:
- Hand Sanitizing dispensers in many different locations of our facility, at the entrances, where there is high traffic and high contact areas, you will find dispensers with foam-like hand Sanitizing products.
- Soap dispensers are checked & filled regularly and again handwashing is encouraged to combat such viruses. We also encourage whenever possible to carry your own personal Hand Sanitizer.
- Coronavirus can be eliminated by routine surface cleaning and the cleaning products we use are industrial grade. Our custodian has been instructed to give this his fullest attention.
- To protect yourself and others, we ask that anyone who is feeling unwell refrain from visiting us so that together we can ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone. Also, we ask that for this period of time we would refrain from shaking hands and personal contact, i.e. hugging etc.
We also encourage our members and guests to stay up-to-date through Canada’s Public Health website.
GATHERINGS AND EVENTS
Public health officials are now referring to “social isolation” as an important way to combat and manage the transmission of the virus. To this end we will be cancelling social events, group activities and worship services for the next two weeks until we have a level of comfort and further up to date information. Therefore, our next official worship service is tentatively scheduled for Sunday morning, March 29, 2020.
As the situation evolves, we continue to monitor and promote the instructions from the Public Health Agency of Canada in order to keep our communities healthy. This includes:
- practising good hygiene by washing hands often (for at least 20 seconds with soap)
- avoiding touching the face with hands
- proper sneezing/coughing technique (into elbow)
- encouraging those with possible symptoms or exposure to stay home and reduce the risk of possible transmission
Our Assembly will continue to move forward in ways that are wise and proactive. Meanwhile, we continue to pray for our world and our communities—particularly for those directly impacted by the virus.
